Finding Farrell is a short film, created by Ashley Cimarolli, that follows a young woman determined to make Colin Farrell her date to her high school reunion. Finding Farrell will be a proof of concept and launching off point for a feature film of the same themes and characters.
Our mission is to tell a story that hasn’t been told yet. Something unique and funny, yet grounded in truth. We’d like to build a community of people that support films showcasing unapologetic, funny, and wacky women. This community will be built at film festivals and other distribution sources. We strive for gender parity on and off the screen and hope to make projects by, for, and about women.
This project is about grudges, unrealistic expectations, and Colin Farrell, of course. The short explores what happens when we create a society without forgiveness and how we crack when social pressures cave in.
Finding Farrell follows our hero, Phoebe, as she maps out a sequence of fool-proof plans to make Colin Farrell her date to her five year reunion at Circle Grove High School. These plan unfolds in chaotic and often disappointing ways. When plan A, approaching Colin Farrell in his LA home, is thwarted by an odd woman named Froggie, she resorts to plan B: her therapist. In therapy, Phoebe unconvincingly pretends she isn’t still scorned by her former friend, Emily, and their epic falling out in high school during the rise and fall of the Colin Farrell fan club. When Phoebe discovers that she’d been incorrectly assuming her therapist, named Amy Farrell, is related to Colin Farrell, she storms out, leaving five dollars and an exasperated therapist. Phoebe now turns to plan C: lying, guilt-tripping, and stealing her way into Colin Farrell’s contact information. She makes a fool of herself as she runs into former club members and her ultimate foe: Emily. With Emily, we unpack the true root of Phoebe’s obsession and the tragic end of the Colin Farrell fan club when Colin Farrell himself shows up.
